First Time Homebuyer Orientation (2hr)

When and Where?

Sep 18, 2018 6:00pm - 8:00pm
The San Francisco LGBT Community Center
1800 Market Street
San Francisco, CA, 94102

The housing market has changed dramatically over the past many years. Inventory is lower than ever, prices are higher than ever. That said, there are some fantastic, affordable options to buy your first home in the city.

Attend this optional homebuyer orientation to learn about the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Housing and Community Development’s programs available to first-time home buyers including down payment assistance programs and below market rate (BMR) ownership opportunities. This orientation will help you self-assess whether these programs might work for your situation before you commit to attending the 6 hours of required workshop education to receive the Homebuyer Education Certificate. This workshop will be presented in partnership with BALANCE.

This orientation does NOT count as credit towards the 6 hour education requirement for obtaining the Homebuyer Education Certificate. The information in the orientation will be reviewed in the regular 6 hours of First Time Homebuyer Workshops if you decide to move forward with the requirement after the orientation.

Due to multiple requirements of the programs and the complexity of utilizing homebuyer assistance, it is highly recommended to attend this orientation to gain an understanding of the programs before attending the needed workshops to receive the Homebuyer Education Certificate.

Note: this workshop is 2 hours long. Please arrive on time. Attendees who arrive more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to the workshop and will not be able to receive credit for attending.
