Homeownership SF connects over 1000 residents to affordable housing resources

by Amiel Leaño Atanacio

On June 3rd, Homeownership SF hosted its Fifth Annual Housing Resource Fair, the 2017 San Francisco Housing Expo, at City College of San Francisco.  With over 1000 people in attendance this year, the 2017 San Francisco Housing Expo is our biggest one yet!  We are so thrilled to have been able to help so many low to moderate income families connect with affordable housing resources.

The day started with welcome remarks by Maria Benjamin, Director of Homeownership and Below Market Rate Programs at the Mayor’s Office of Housing & Community Development, Susan Lamb, Chancellor of the City College of San Francisco, Carmen Chu, the Assessor-Recorder of San Francisco, and former State Senator Mark Leno.

Attendees had a chance to meet with 57 different housing nonprofits, government agencies, financial institutions, tenant & legal organizations, and real estate service providers in the Exhibitor Hall.  Across the courtyard in the Counseling & Assistance Room, 34 homeowners received personalized assistance from housing counselors and their mortgage servicers.  In the Multi-Use Building, Expo participants had over 12 workshops to choose from, covering topics for renters, homebuyers, and current homeowners.  The day ended with a bus tour where select participants had a chance to see both BMR and market rate properties across the city.

Homeownership SF would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2017 San Francisco Housing Expo.  We hope to see you next year!
