Education Requirements effective August 1, 2019:
To apply for a First Time Home buyer program in San Francisco, adult applicants age 18 and older must complete 10 hours of first-time home buyer education and receive their First Time Home Buyer Certificate:
Step 1: 2 hours MOHCD Home Buyer Program Orientation
Step 2: 6 hours of First Time Home Buyer (FTHB) Workshop(s) at one of the five approved agencies -may be taken as series at the SF LGBT Center or online through SFHDC.
Step 3: 2 hours Individual Counseling Session (at same agency as FTHB workshop)
= 10 Total hours of home buyer education to receive your Verification of Completion (Certificate)
Anyone utilizing any of the San Francisco homebuyer assistance programs will be required to attend 6 hours of post-purchase workshops after the purchase of their property. You’ll have 24 months from the date of your purchase to fulfill this requirement.
