To apply for a First Time Homebuyer program in San Francisco, adult applicants age 18 and older must complete 10 hours of first-time homebuyer education and receive their First Time Homebuyer Certificate:
Step 1: 2 hour MOHCD Program Orientation (link here) Step 2: 6 hour of First Time Homebuyer (FTHB) Workshop (may be taken as series – see below for more information) Step 3: 2 hour Individual Counseling Session (at some agency as FTHB workshop)
= 10 Total hours of homebuyer education to receive your Verification of Completion (Certificate)
Anyone utilizing any of the San Francisco homebuyer assistance programs will be required to attend 6 hours of post-purchase workshops after the purchase of their property. You’ll have 24 months from the date of your purchase to fulfill this requirement.
